Officially Nesting

The days seem to be zooming by right now. I feel like I have TONS to do and not enough time to do it all. I will do what I can before Analise comes home but if I don't get to it, oh well.

The past few days, I have been cleaning, cleaning and cleaning. I have organized closets, painted, put up some Christmas decorations, started prepacking the suitcase for Guatemala, etc. The one task I have enjoyed the most - detagging all of the clothes to take for our pick-up trip. It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to take them out of the closet, wash them and pack them for our girl.

OK, now I have a few questions for all the Mom's who traveled before me. Here they are in bullet form:

*Did you take food for your baby? What did you do? Analise will be 9mths. old.
*What is the Westin like? Food good? Shops?

*How many toys did you take? What do they enjoy besides a comb and butt paste tubes?!?!

*Is there anything else I should be aware of for pick up??

We are SO LOOKING FORWARD to getting our girl and bringing her home!! FOREVER!!!

***EDITED TO ADD: OK. I get that I need to get suppositories!! Someone tell me what aisle I am supposed to look on for these!! The first place I would look-next to the diapers!! Seriously!! Where are they in Target?!?!***

My friend, Jorge, went and bought everything I needed there. I would take some baby food veggies....they didn't have many choices... babies usually will eat sweet potatoes and carrots b/c they are a little sweeter. Ap had only had fruits.....you may also want to pack some baby oatmeal cereal. It's better for them than rice cereal, and it's not as hard on their tummies. Glycerin suppositories are a MUST... All my babies got constipated anytime they had a lot of changes.... Bella and AP were stopped up!!!! Can't think of anything else....I'll email you if I think of something later!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!

love you bunches!

Well, I would say pack the hairbows, that sweetie has some gorgeous locks!

I second the glycerin suppositories... but my biggest tip... take spare clothes for the plane ride home in the carryon... when those things work, they do at the most unprepared times!!

Praying for a speedy pink!

As for the suppositories...I had plenty, but I never did end up using any...I gave most of them to Lou though...for AP that is...LOL!!! I fed Bella lots of prunes which I'm sure helped :)

I was going to say that you for sure need a comb for her to play with and chew on ;) Get the Lily Leapfrog doll that talks in English and Spanish. Both of the girls loooooved that in GC! And unfortunately our dog sorta loved it the other day too...LOL!!!

I'm so excited for you...I can't stand it!!!

I don't really have any advice. In fact, I am planning on checking back to see what advice you are given so I can benefit from that knowledge too!

I am so excited for you that the time is almost here!

I would bring baby food with me. You can get it there, but the variety is not good and sometimes the quality wasn't good, either (even though it's Gerber...it was just "funky" sometimes).

LOVE the Westin! I love every thing about it. Shopping is great and the good is AWESOME! If you stay there, be sure to check out the little Italian place right near the front door. So yummy....especially the spinach ravioli. The breakfast buffet is delicious and pastries and coffee at Cafetal is unbeatable! Obviously I love to eat and love the Westin.

I second the leap frog. Tommy still loves playing with his. Any thing that makes noise and has lights is good, too.

Don't forget baby orajel and tylenol. So obvious, I know, but it's so important to have.

HOW EXCITING that your trip is SO CLOSE!!! Isn't it awesome to be able to take those tags off?? So happy it's almost YOUR TURN!! :)

A word from Uncle Steve

As I have flown a time or two I am always curious how parents keep their children calm on flights, the resounding answer is to arrange the schedule so that a feeding expected as the flight begins; this will not only allow for equal ear pressure (and a calm flight crew), but will make the young lassie sleepy, she should awaken just in time for the media event I've arranged for the stopover in Houston. WE ARE VERY EXCITED FOR YOU!!

I agree with Natalie, PRUNES!!! We've used them both times. Did the trick! We ran out of baby food so I had to have Norm bring more. For toys, depending on how long you'll be there, I brought one of those canvas collapsable boxes for $5.99 at Target and am using it as a toy box, VERY handy.

Suppositories. Best to have them and not need them than to NEED them and not have them! LOL.

As to where to find them?

In the pharmacy, over the counter sections, near the peptobismol (not a bad idea to take those in tablet form in case YOU need them) and sometimes they are near the lovely, time-honored traditional Ex-Lax!

Oh the things we will post about, us MOMs!

WELCOME TO THE CLUB, girl!! You're gonna do GREAT!!! Just jump in with both feet and we'll be so glad to welcome you back to the Sooner state!

Can't wait to hear about pink. The westin is very nice. The pool is a long walk and so plan to have a coverup of somesort for you and baby. I felt more comfortable with a carrier rather then a stroller especially when crossing streets. If you walk out of the Westin and head left, cross the busy streets and then go left down the sidewalk across from highway, you will come upon a small grocery store not far from the Westin. You need to cross one more side street and it's on the corner. You can also go straight after crossing street and on the right will be artisan shops and if you keep going past there, there is a McDonalds on your left. If you have time and can, hire a driver to take you to Antiqua. It is a day trip. Bright colored noisy toys are appreciated. I had smaller toys for at restaurants and several in case they threw them on the floor. Ask the hotel for a crib and for a baby bath. They will deliver anything you ask for. At the front desk at the westin, behind you is another Conceirge desk - that person will get anything for you! Literally. We had baby food, diapers, Apple Bees, etc. delivered to our room. When booking your room make sure they understand that you will have a child with you. We got to the hotel and found out that we couldn't be on a certain floor because it was for business people only. We were moved to the ONLY baby room available which was 125 more a night! ouch!! It was a beautiful corner suite, but it was spendy. Everyone is very accomodating, just ask and be ready to tip! The breakfast buffet is good and dinner is too. If you walk out of the Westin and to your right you will walk past several restaurants etc. I believe that also brings you to the mall, but if I remember right you need to make one turn right after leaving hotel. I hope all goes well and I can't wait to hear pink!!
